About Us
March 22,2023 several churches were in turmoil and parishioners were heartbroken over some decisions made and began to leave the church. Judy Cohoon, Ginny Fulcher, Jim & Sarah Milligan wanted a way to keep their sense of church family together and meet somewhere to Worship together.
On April 16, 2023 we had our first Worship service at the Barco library. Those present were Pam Hartsell (spoke in our pulpit), Jerry Barnett, Judy Cohoon, Jim & Sarah Milligan, Ginny Fulcher, Rich & Marion Osborne, Janet Rose, Okey Driggs, Candice Haynes, Caroline Boswell, her mom and her daughter. The Bible was our word and direction. It was a Spiritual beginning with forgiveness and healing to lay the cornerstone for a new church.
Soon after a retired minister David Clift became our minister and we named our church Currituck SonRise. We chose to follow the Wesleyan theology and way of conducting business and formed a church council and church ministries. Not long after, we were outgrowing the library and an opportunity arose to rent and share the use of Rehoboth Baptist facility. Our first service, at our current meeting place was August 13, 2023. God's hand was on the formation of this church and remains still on our church.
Despite a strong and loving relationship with Rehoboth, our Church has decided to remain separate from the Baptist church and remain Non-denominational. Our vision remains to grow in grace through Worship, fellowship, discipleship, service and witness.
Come visit us and witness a loving, friendly Bible believing church family. We would love
to have you.
Our Mission
We are growing in God's Grace through Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Service and Witness.
What We Believe
We follow the teachings of the Bible. We believe in one God, who is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the Savior of all persons who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life.
Matt. 11:28-30 NIV
28: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29: Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30: For my yoke is easy and my burden is light"
